DD all the way! Multiple reasons; slalom, footin, it was the original configuration of a SKI boat........and when I'm done skiing I like to drive a sports car on the water as opposed to driving a station wagon around the rest of the day.

It depends on what I'm doing that day but I own a VD because it fits my family's needs the best. I'm not in a position to have both but maybe someday, so for now I have the smallest wake VD 214V.

Direct Drive all the way... but I am a hard core slalom... However skiing behind a 205V wasn't bad - especially being recreational. Besides... my wallet governs what I buy

I like my DD most of the time. Sometimes I crave more room and open area. I do however love my 209 unloaded for skating and the handling is unreal. Weighted right the wakeboard wake is still money for me.
