Direct Drive or V-Drive?

This poll has been done on this forum before, but it has been a while and there are a lot of new members.

DD all the way, I would go stern drive before V-Drive for most any application except surfing.

And even then - I understand why not to surf behind stern drive and outboard boats - but I am surprised more people don't build extended platforms off the stern of the boat for surfing.

It is, I do not board, so if I'm looking for a larger boat for space, there are features an I/O has that a V-Drive does not.

Like speed, have a 302 equipped boat that'll do 50 with some people in it, and can handle much harsher waves than any V-drive of the same size.

Now I think more I/O's would benefit from a PP Stargazer.

Love the space of a V-drive, and the wakes can be amazingly close to direct drives these days. The handling of a direct drive however, just can't be matched. Having driven both a fair bit, I will say that I'm all V-drive vs. the I/O I used to have.
