You can contact prestolite, they at times offer reman units. If that doesn't pan out you will need to buy a new distributor. I would consider going to electronic ignition.

basic point style distributor http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ma...view/make/ford

the unit I changed to last year http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ma...view/make/ford

If you don't wanna spend that much send me a PM message I have an original distributor from my 89 MC that has been converted to Mallory E-Spark electronic ignition that I will sell.
this is the ei that's installed http://www.summitracing.com/parts/maa-9-26902

springs are obsolete for the prestolite distributor, mr. gasket makes a spring kit for GM, you may be able to modify one of those to work, but I do know several other TT members have tried this in the past and ended up buying new distributors.

I just went through the same thing with my 83. yesterday I installed a pertronix flamethrower II plug and play distributor and coil. I have yet to fire it up, the install was real easy. I could not find prestolite springs anywhere.

I think this is the one you need for petronix http://pertronix.shptron.com/p/dist-...d-351w-blk-cap

Whichever brand you use make sure it's marine rated.

It's expensive but I'd recommend a DUI distributor:

http://www.performancedistributors.com/marinedui.htm

Put one in my '79 S&S a few years back and results are incredible, easier starts, improved acceleration & more efficient. If you get the wires be sure to measure yours first and get them custom made; they do it for $30.
