Pigeon Forge - mastercraft

We are heading to Pigeon Forge next week for vacation, I have noticed many SE members on here and wondering things to do and where could I do some boat shopping also.

I did find ABC in Knoxville looks like 45 minute drive

This is our first trip to TN

Thanks for any replies

I don't think you'll have any shortage of things to do in Pigen Forge, it reminds me of Wisco Dells they have everything from slides, to go carts, to bars, etc. I was there for work so I didn't get out much during the day but all in all it was a pretty cool place.

Plenty to do but it's a tourist trap in my opinion. Been within an hour&half of PF most of my life. Doesn’t impress me as far as a place to harbor.

Not being a pessimist but just letting you know the straight skinny. Go-carts don't do a lot for me... lol.... As far as ABC,, it's a dealership much like any other....not my preference for shopping there (a recently ABC related thread with less than stellar reciprocation from them).

You are welcome to PM me with contact and talk. I can give you the skinny on most anything there and more-so, near-by. Knoxville is an hour away from PF. PF is an OK place if you know preciseley what to consider..... and your family structure... kids?

Gatlinburg - Pancake Pantry (www.pancakepantry.com)
Wears Valley - Lee Roberson Art gallery (http://www.thegreatsmokies.net/lee-r...n-art-gallery/) Not open on Saturdays
Townsend - Cades Cove (a don't miss place)
Dolly Wood for kids (check seasonal operations) (www.dollywood.com)
Smokey Mtns - Chimney Tops (short day hike, requires sturdy hiking shoes, no athletic shoes, pack a day snack or lunch in a backpack and plenty of water for the trip), Clingsman Dome (if the visibility is great) and, Newfound Gap
Cherokee NC - gambling casinos
Pigeon Forge - Shopping, amusement parks, eateries, side shows, and traffic and more traffic
exit 407 on I-40 is Smokey Mtn. Knife Works (a small but interesting place, mostly run of the mill knives) (www.eknifeworks.com) and the same exit for getting to PF.
Also www.gatlinburg.com

Where you coming in from other than midwest? You coming down I-57 / I-24?

You won't be very far from the factory in Pigeon Forge either. I would definitely contact them and try to get a tour scheduled.

thanks for the info, coming from central IA. I am also trying to plan a stop at a dealer in Farmer Illinois (liquid edge). thanks for all the info Cloaked

we did find out Dollyworld is closed until the 23rd when we leave, I did find Douglas lake and a boat rental place but the water is probably freezing.

Farmer City, IL?

Water is cold and the water level is down here (by controlled ingenuity) so launching is hard to do until they raise the water level.

Douglas is farther out from PF.

A recommendation: come on down I-74 / I-57 / I-24 through Nashville. A path of lesser resistance. I've ran every pig trail between here and your neck of the woods commuting from Knoxville to Bloomington, IL for a lot of years. Nashville downtown or by-pass is about the same during rush hour. I prefer the Briley Parkway by-pass.

Dont waste time looking at another dealer unless there is a specfic boat you are buying.

Take a day and head to the Vonore area.

Make calls and set up some factory tours for the day.
Mastercraft and Malibu for hand built boats. Bayliner is right there too, so see how mass production differs.
If you have an OJ prop, look it over. OJ is right next to MC. I let them know I was coming and they had my prop refinished by the time we completed the MC tour.

I stopped at liquid edge in Farmington and ABC on the way out today. Both nice places and had plenty of new boats to look at. Not much for used boats. If you are ever near Farmington I would stop by pretty cool place with his own private lake.

I few of the guys on our lake get slalom training every year down there at Liquid Edge. Nothing but praises for the dealer/owner. I may stop down there for some training this year.

Quick fact, my wife is from Illinois, most of those lakes you see like the one at Liquid Edge along the interstate in IL are bascially holes that filled with water from ecavating for the interstates.
