I saw a lot of these pinheads at Lauderdale Lake in Elkhorn, WI. They really screwed that launch up, something fierce.

I float off. At the pull out, I always leave the trailer out just a little, so the bunks catch the boat and stop it before the bow chock. I then power on the last foot or winch it on, if I am in the mood. Either way, it takes little more than bumping it in gear to engage the boat buddy.

+1. This is what I do currently.

You can wax the bunks (don't use silicone based products like 303 on the bunks). But if you wax them, don't ever unhook the boat until it is over the water. They will slide off.

Float off. Glide on at idle speed and winch that last foot or so.

I would never go against signs stating no power loading. I fish some lakes with those signs and of course comply, but haven't had my '77 at a launch thus designated.

That launch on Lauderdale had a "No Power loading", too- it was a lot like telling a fire not to burn, though.

I find it most fun...and challenging...to leave the Perfect Pass set at wakeboard speed and try to shoot the gap between the bunks. Of course, this is most enjoyable after killing, at minimum, a 6 pack.

Heck... Why not go for slalom speed... more of a challenge.....
