X45vsG23 or X55vsG25
Hey guys, I own a 2009 x45 and am ready to upgrade to a 2013. I know this is a mc forum and I am a hard core mastercraft fan but saw a g25 and am stuck between mc and cc. The helm all digital, no key, storage space, access to cooler, ballast pumps and motor, batteries not taking up storage space, 3000 pounds stock ballast. Heard the surf wake is unbelievable.
What do you guys think?? |

First question- Are you prepared to pay 20k more for an equally equipped G?? Cause that is what it will be. An equally equiped G was 4k more than my '13 Xstar... and I ordered with power tower.... Would have been 10k more, if I had gone with a ZFT4.

Can not comment on G25. But my G23 was about 5 k less than what I was quoted for similarly equiped x star. But I suspect the difference in cost comparison is highly market dependent. Def worth getting quotes in your market. Can not go wrong with either choice.

Or just do a search and find the endless threads. Search crumble monster, g23 vs, or homer. Bottom line is they are both good boats and at that point in the spectrum they are both going to be killer boats. Comfort was something I thought the G's lacked imho. The boat is laid out fantastic and they have some great detail but the seats were just uncomfortable to me. Felt like the new supras and were far too squared off. I haven't seen the new star surf wake but the G's looks middle of the road. If surfing is your big thing look at the x30 and get away from the star. I hear fantastic things. To me MC has a different feel that most of us hate to love. The seats are comfortable, the layouts are convenient, and the boats look different. Some say the same about nauti's. Go sit and ride in both but asking this question on the internet is like self pleasuring with sandpaper......

That doesn't change the fact that it will be 15-20k more than an X45. And when I quoted a G25, it was 16k more than the G23! |

I priced G23 and new Star. Star was about 10K more.

All g boats are ugly, and like 02Sammy said, the interior is very squared off and uncomfortable. I do like the floors on them though. The reversible seat is also very easy to use. If you plan on surfing i wouldn't buy a G, thats a hard core wakeboard boat. The X30 would also be my recommendation, or the X55 for sure!

I would definitely not buy the G23 for its surf wake. But I have not been behind a G25. Your x45 with the proper ballast will surf better than a G23 IMHO.

I cannot comment on the G23/25 debate, but I owned a 2012 X45 with every bell and whistle available and sold it after 1 season. I now have a '13 X30 which I love. Much more nimble and upgraded layout/interior. I really enjoyed my X45, but it is now one of MC's oldest models (hull). I hear that there is a new one in the works in the next year or two. Can anyone confirm? So, my advice is to wait for the new X45, or try something else in the meantime. If they do an all new 45 for '14 you'll be regretting the '13 purchase, perhaps.
