Land O Lakes area anyone?

Tell me about this area regarding lakefront homes.

What's the best lake to be on? (for watersports of course)
Best community? Is there anything gated?

Any other Florida areas come to mind......where would you buy a lakefront home if you could?

(Yes it's cold here and I'm bored so I like dreaming of a warm place to spend my time someday.......)

Land o Lakes is a very nice older area established homes businesses. and mostly made up of private lakes. Lake Tarpon is biggest in the tampa area. But lol has many many great ski lakes. My personal choice if you want to live in tampa but on clean lakes. Just remember this is a LOL lake

Looks great but which lake is that? (you can PM me if you want to keep it under wraps)

Lake Tarpon, isn't that brackish water fed by the Gulf? I've read there are lots of gator in Tarpon.

Incredible, I live a sheltered life. I always thought Lake of the Ozarks is where I would land but the winters in Missouri are no better than Iowa.

Ditto!! Originally thought it was my lake where he took the pic; but different lake.

JerseyDave you just need to get your butt down here for a visit. You are going to be in Orlando in April. Set aside a day to drive up to LOL and you can see the same sunset that Jessie has in his picture from either his X2 or my ProStar190!

Land O Lakes is in the Tampa area, N. Tampa. I grew up in that area and there are certain industries that thrive there. Clermont/Winter Haven is near Orlando. It's the same deal as far as lakes.

Spring fed lakes that are clean and clear. I have found more serious skiers are in the Orlando area. More gated neighborhoods too. You may find that the smallest, hardest to find lakes have a serious skier usage.

The drawback to spring fed lakes and living in FL is the threat of sinkhole. In the last few years, rain levels have been high. However the trend is for a lowering of the water aquafier. As it lowers, the risk of sink hole increases.
