Boating at Lake Almanor
So we're thinking of going up to Lake Almanor for a camping trip his summer. Debating whether or not to bring the MC (20' Maristar v-drive). It'd be a long tow from Sacramento and I hear the lake is not the best for skiing and can get really choppy in the afternoon. Any advice is appreciated, thanks

My parents have a house on that lake. It's an absolutely beautiful area. If you want to do any skiing it's usually early morning or late late afternoon. I have been going up there for about 25 years and I can't remember the last time I was there in the summer on a "wind free" day. As soon as a slight breeze starts the water turns choppy. Anything above a breeze it turns really really choppy. We bring our 205v up every 4th of July...it gets some use but not a ton. I told my wife if we ever deciced to not bring the boat it would probably be 4 straight days of glassy water...so no matter what we have to bring it.

I believe the OP found the answer to his question soon after creating the thread. He then edited it to its current state.

We used to go to Shasta every year and for the past 5 years we have been renting a cabin on the lake at Almanor. On calm days and calm evenings it's beautiful. But that wind sucks! Last year was the last straw..the boat sat most of the time and had to keep it off the dock and tied to the bouy due to the wind. All i can say is "We are Headed back to Shasta this year!" 205V
