I have taken my 197 in some choppy water before and it actually handles it great, nothing near like my old 190.

Another vote for 205v hulled x-stars = does it all and very well. (IME Surfing requires extra ballast in the range of 300# - 500# to be able to drop rope)

I had my X Star (205v) at Lake of the Ozarks once. I survived, but going over 20 mph was not possible in the main channel. Occasionally, you have to slow way down for the bigger waves. I've also had my 2012 X-2 out there. It was better, but still not a fun cruise.

Here's that supra... can't see the damage in this picture, but it has some gouges on the port side gelcoat, and has a big knick out of the nose where the guy hit it on the dock. The kid that owned this didn't take care of it at all. Besides that, it just needs a real good interior cleaning and a few new seat skins as well as a good buff/polish/wax, and it'll be a great boat.
