I say that most of the people on here that dont like window tint have prob never been to the south in the middle of summer .. One of the public lakes we go to is located in arkansas in the middle of nowhere .. You can bet its everybit of 120 degree heat index in the middle of all those corn fields with nothing around for miles and miles ...The bimini top and the window tint are a MUST ...Like a credit card , never leave home without um ''

Because the inside of the glass is not shaded, 20% on a boat will look like 35% on a vehicle. Not that dark. But it is definitely not safe to go darker. Even 20% can impede vision.
Mostly asthetic. You will notice a difference on items that are set up on the dash and under the windshield, like a phone for example.
The gap mentioned above is because the elevated dash keeps the tinter from trimming the film perimeter in certain places with 90% access. There may be a gap to fill or they may cut into the gasket to avoid the gap (which isn't acceptable). In some cases, the only remedy in getting a near perfect job is to remove and reinstall the glass.
Releasing the film backing and applying it in an unprotected area makes a clean job nearly impossible.
It's difficult to shrink the film and get the film to adhere to a curved windshield. A compound curve is really tough.
Before having it done discuss some of these issues with the shop.

I live and ski in Texas... I do not enjoy being out on the lake in the heat of the day... I get on at the break of dawn and off the lake by 10 AM. Closest i get to heat of the day is 4 PM to sundown when we do our weekly ski n grills...

Does the tint look awesome? Yes.

There is no question that the tint hinders the ability to see at the dawn/dusk hours (especially in a slalom course)... We had a club member with a MC209 and it had tinted windows and after a couple of trips to the lake with his boat, I didn't want to drive for him anymore.

I've only had one boat with tinted windows. I honestly didn't see how it effected the heat/sun on anyone in the boat. The hottest part of the day the sun will be overhead and tinted windows won't do much for sunburn protection....that's why I put a bimini on my last MC!

I have my SUV windows tinted to 35%, not for looks but more for function. I don't care for tinited windows on a boat, a bit to "Gangsta" for me.

These are pics from this weeked, picking up our boat from having it serviced at Texas Ski Ranch. We've been considering tinting the glass for the last 2 seasons, and after some research, and seeing some of the previous pics, we went ahead and had TSR do the tint while it was there for service. We asked for something very light, just dark enough to accent the boat, but not too dark.

We like the way it turned out. What do you think?
