96 PS 190 rear Seat restoration
I need a little help. I'm re-covering the rear jumpseat on my 96 PS 190. the seat feels a little "mushy" so i want to go ahead and re-build it prior to putting the new skin on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did you replace any foam? There's a steam step that should be used which I don't know how to do - yet.. but it helps the foam expand iirc...

I haven't started just yet. I think one of the members here had a rear seat done and I'm hoping I can find his post. I intend on replacing the foam as well, thanks for the information.

How is your project coming? my rear seat is also in need of restoration, but I think it was already attempted by a previous owner , so I won't be working with an original.
I'm thinking about using 3/4" marine grade plywood but am worried about weight and durability. What are your plans? |

I'm redoing my rear right now. (2) 1/2 reg ply sandwiched. For a small seat like that wouldn't think it would require that thick. Then epoxied it using the g flex west systems stuff. easy to use and alil flexible but still epoxy. Foam can be bought at your local fabric store.

I decided to rebuild mine (205), I took the old seat traced out the template on 2 pieces of 2x12 side by side. Cut it, braced them together and put seven coats of poly on it, bought foam from Joann's with a 50% off coupon(this part is important, stuff adds up) vinyl with the same coupon and simply covered it myself by using one piece and folding the corners. It's heavy, it doesn't look completely professional, but for less than 200 I built the rear seat and replaced all the foam in the bow and put new vinyl on those seats as well. Depends how intense your mcocd is, but I am very happy with my solution.
