Replacing 6.5 component speakers.

I want to replace my speaks in my 209. I will more than likely amp them. Any body have any good ideas on a brand or model?

I have been thinking of doing that in my 04 230. Most folks on here really like the wetsounds speakers and also JL.

I have looked at both and cannot see a lot of difference in them. I am also considering Infinity but know nothing about them. My Clarions are good they are just getting old and I can tell.

If you are not going to drive them with an amp, quality is relative and often subpar.

What is your budget? No sense recommending WS or a larger cone when $100 is someone's idea of an upgrade.
Do you have any electrical/mechanical skills, ambition or tools?

Both the Wetsounds and JL Audio marine speakers are a great choice for in the boat. They sound different from one another and that is a subjective choice. But those are definitely the top two chosen when someone is able to hear the top half dozen marine coaxials side by side.
If you have existing 6.5" speakers then it's an easy drop-in with either.
If you have components then you can keep the existing tweeters and change the crossover so that they function as a super tweeter and stay well above the vocal range. Or, there are some nice adapters with downcasting courtesy/step lights available that can replace the separate tweeters.

David, can you provide some more info on the tweeter adapter with courtesy/step lights?

Get with Odin from Earmark via a PM. He fabricates and packages these.

Do the 7.7s fit in the existing 6.5 spots? I wouldn't want to open up the upholstery.
