2005 - 2006 Tower Pads - made new ones
Next new project - making replacement 2005 to 2006 Tower Pads. Since the factory no longer makes these parts I was forced to make my own. I started with a custom cast sheet of black polyuretane, 70 durometer, 3/16" thick. Next, I traced the outline of each tower foot and had my machinist mill them to the requirement dimensions using a bandsaw and belt sander. Finally, the mounting hardware holes were added and finished. Now to reinstall the tower this weekend.
Cost: $35 for the polyurethane sheet Machine Work: 6 pack of beer Tower Installation help: One trip to Starbucks for a Grande Vanilla Bean Frap, No Whip and a Cake Pop for my 10 year daughter. Satisfaction that I'll never have to replace these in my lifetime - PRICELESS Pictures are forthcoming this weekend.

True, I was just being lazy. I need to make a set, do you know where I can get the material?
I was going to use truck flap material, thick rubber. Not sure how it would hold up. And yes, after I posted my comment I remembered you have an X-30 not an X-star. ![]()

Lets see some pics, Tom!
Dave, About a year ago, someone on ebay was making pads for the X-star. My new tower pads were one of the best mods I have done. mfunf did a superb job on them. ![]() |

I was on the path to do the same thing you did. 3D printer, huh? Have you seen the YouTube video of the crescent wrench being made with one? Pretty sweet!
I was fortunate to ask the question on here and mfunf said "Ship the tower legs to me". It was just happenstance and perfect timing! |

Pictures of the new tower pads. Hopefully I will never have to do this again. Unfortunately, when re-installing the tower, the section that folds backwards caught on the rear bench seat and put a little tear in the upholstery. Next project - new interior with 2013 material.
