X-55 and Ilmor 7.4L

I'm considering moving up (growing family!) to an X-55 with 7.4 L Ilmor; currently run 2011 X-25 with 6.2 L Ilmor; what appeals to me about X-55...load capacity...big water suitability...on-board head; would welcome comments about "new" 7.4 Ilmor...GPH experience... cruising, wakeboarding or surfing....plenty of power? manouverability of this "big boat"? experience with head (raw water flush...holding tank requiring pump out...does it all work well...worth the extra cost compared to portable unit)? Thanks!

very well....no issues....had the 6.0 l Indmar in an '07 X-15 before the X-25.....about 50 hp more with 6.2 Ilmor.....noticable! we often operate at close to full capacity...I like responsiveness of bigger hp and torque. X-25 is propped with 16" pitch by 14.5" ACME (p/n 1593).... at about 1100 ft above sea level will jump to 48 mph pretty quickly. have not calculated GPH....just give them the visa card and look the other way!

The head on board is a bit of a waste, however for local and country laws here, it come in handy. I had one on my last 2 boats over 7 years, never used it.

I really liked the X55 when we were looking to buy a new boat but the boat is MASSIVE. We ended up getting an X45 and love it. The wakeboard wake on the X55 will be no where close to how good it is on the X25 as the X55 has a true V hull that extends the entire length of the boat which makes it ride awesome in rough water. I havent surfed one but would imagine it would be similar to the X35 as I find these two very similar in Hull design. If you get a chance check out the X45. The stock wakeboard wake is awesome and the boats is big enough to fit 12-14 pretty comfortable. I made the switch form a 21ft Malibu VLX and the X45 Wakeboard/surf wake stock is better in every way and the boat is aweosme. Add another 2000lbs and the wake is even better. Good luck. I bet that 7.4 will be nice in that boat.

I saw a video once where Zane claimed 30% improvement for the 2012 PWT boats in GPH vs the 2011 PWT boats, but I don't think that has been documented for sure.

I think they also claimed they were running the 5 blade. Anndddd we all know where that went
