Top end speed
What should the top end speed be for a 1989 Prostar with a 351w and 1:1 transmission?

44 or 45 mph assuming all is good and the boat isn't full of people.

Well, I need to put the 13x13 prop back on. I rebuilt the carb, replaced the distributor rotor and cap along with new points, and new spark plugs. I timed it to 10 degrees and set the dwell at around 30. I dont think I can do much else besides add GT40 heads

What prop are you running now, and what speed are you getting to?

I'm sure not a prop expert, but that sounds like about the right speed with that prop. Is the speed issue new, or are you just getting in to footing?

Yeah, I am trying to get into barefooting. And I am not sure what the norm is as far as top end speed goes or things that can be done to get the top end to 47-48 mph. I would like to have some throttle left when skiing at around 42mph

The resident prop expert is Eric at OJ Props. He has been around the block a time or two and will be a great resource. 865-458-5205
http://www.ojprops.com/ 47 or 48 mph is a stretch with a stock 351.
