Tug Of War - VW Touareg V10 TDI vs Chevy Duramax

Not a fair comparison, toureg is designed to not have weight on the rear. Put a 4,000 pound trailer at least behind the duramax then try this again. Duramax would drag it around. I own a duramax and my mom had a toureg before switching to BMW. I know what both are capable of but there needs to be a happy medium of the two. Toureg is a sweet little ride. I'm looking at getting the VW passat tdi here pretty soon.

you'll notice that the truck seems to have an open differential as well so it was only spining one tire vs 4 tires pulling on the toureg with traction control. Still, I doubt that a lot of small SUV's would have enough torque to pull the Chevy backwards.

the touareg v10 tdi weighs almost 7000 lbs. not really a small suv when it comes to weight.

i have the new v6 tdi and it tows my x2 better than my 07 tahoe with much better fuel economy.

The Durmax has 765 lb ft torque?

Toareg V10 turbo diesel has 553 lb ft torque at 2000rpm. My quick search showed duramax as having a very respectable peak torque of 520 lb ft. But perhaps there are variations of the engine that I didn't see.

The lml duramax which is the newest one shows 765 ft lbs at 1600 rpm

The duramax in the video looks like a lmm (07.5-10) the are 650 ft lbs factory..

Aha, I see. Wow that is a lot! I think i saw a spec sheet for 04.
