240 SC Headliner insulation.

I just got to thinking how many people say the cuddy cabin on the SC gets hot and muggy in the summer. Can anyone think of a good material I could use instead of the 1/4" foam above my new headliner to keep the heat at bay? I was thinking maybe some of the radient barrier available at Home Depot like this :

I don't find that it ever really gets hot. Usually we put my boy down for a nap, open the hatch, turn on the little fan we have that runs off cig lighter and it's fine in there. I even remember the days before the boy, it got hot but it was enjoyable!

Well then maybe I will just replace the foam. I am finding that info on this boat pertaining to the cuddy is hard to find as it is a pretty rare boat. Do you have any ideas about how to find a replacement cuddy door latch/ hardware or an idea of how to modify the door in order to accept new hardware?

Yes they are rare since they only built them for 3 or 4 years. Yours rarer than rare with the small block in it. I guess since it was the first year... Most I have seen have the BB 454s in them.

I ain't sure where you will find any of these items. I have looked for teh hatch cover on the cuddy as mine is like so many others, warped and leaks when it rains... I have put a larger rubber gasket on it and it don't leak as bad now but it still leaks. I just try and stay out of the rain.

Question out of curiosity, which transmission do the 454 boats have? I am having my 10-17 rebuilt, but I would prefer to have the 10-18 so I could build the motor a bit.
