definition of "skim and "surf"

Can someone please explain the difference in wake surfers in regards to "skim and "surf" .

Skim boards are shorter, only use one fin or in many cases with good skimmers no fins and are made for skate board style tricks like shuv-its and a ton of surface rotations. Surf boards are typically longer, more stable but you can still do a lot of tricks on surf boards as well. When you watch the pros ride now there's very little difference between surf and skim (the men, not the women). Skim boards are much more slick and easier to do rotations. Both are fun in their own way.

I guess I have a semi in between board...Its a hyperlight broadcast I'm pretty sure. Its pretty thin and all but has 3 fins. It's a decent board looking for a short skim with no fins for next season. Any suggestions?
