The '94 project 190 we just bought with the LT1 did 46 on GPS and that is with a trashed prop and crappy water...guy is probably not too far off.

@jerseydave.. I see a lot of good 190's in the 6k range.. They are just bare boats.. Might need gel coat buffing but that's normally it. |

I need to get out there this season and record my top speed just for kicks. My prop is not new, so I want to replace it first. Any '91-'94 for near $6K is a great buy.....I didn't think they would sell that cheap. How much is that '94 LT-1? Is it a powerslot? (actually for footing a 1:1 trans might be better anyway).

A '94 with an LT1 on a 1:1 transmission might get pretty close to 47. I would test it with GPS, but even if it's at 45 that's plenty. LT1 is a very nice engine as well.

I would go for a 91-94 190 or 205. I would not be concerned with the motor as I have a 94 205 with the standard engine and it is just fine for barefooting. The top end has never been an issue for me and I am not small (about 210).
The only change I have made is going to an Acme CNC'd prop. I use to have a BF200 and my 205 is almost as good of a barefoot boat and a much better family boat.

I learned to foot behind a 15 ft. runabout with a 85HP Mercury OB and 40 MPH was the top end. Since then, I've foot behind my 79 S&S, my 87 Prostar 190, and my 95 Maristar 200VRS. I've never tipped the scales more than 185 lbs and I've never had to run any of the inboards WOT to keep it at 40-41 MPH. If you glide across the water (and not plow), extra passengers in the boat will affect the top end speed more than the footer, even on one foot. The powerslot and a 4 blade prop will give you more hole shot for deep water starts if you have a few people in the boat too.
