Watch out... Once you try it you'll be hooked!

Snap a pic of the intake manifold where it bolts to the head and i'll be able to tell you if a HO or not. From what is shown in the picture it looks to be the HO but need closer view to confirm. As was said earlier in this thread, square port heads were used on hiperf versions of 454s vs. more common oval port engines. The square port heads have huge intake and exhaust valves/ ports with 2.19 intakes and 1.88 exhausts. LS6 454 in the 1970s chevelle was relatively underrated at 450hp at the crank (net not sae) with 11-1 compression ratio and square port heads so a lower compression version in the 425 hp range wouldnt be a stretch.

Carb looks like a 780 cfm model 3310 holley. Snap a pic down the throats and see if it has tabs on the fuel venturis which was done to address some air-fuel ratio imbalances cylinder to cylinder due to intake manifold runner lenght differences. They will be tabs cast into the atomizing ring to disrupt airflow.

Nice boat and clean engine- found yourself a gem!

My post was in response to another comment.

If youre not going to be barefooting behind the boat, I assume you'll be slaloming primarily? In that case, the big block may not be the best choice, as it comes with a 300lb weight penalty.

Little known fact:
The sometimes-maligned Tristar came out as a barefoot model with the 454 as standard issue. The '89 brochure refers to a "high-performance" 454 but doesn't list hp. There was one advertised on Texas Mastercraft's site a while ago that stated 425 hp.

I looked at this boat before buying my 1998. Had to pass on this one.
I can see the boat but it won't pull up the listing. Do they do that if it's been sold?

I don't know. I click on the link and all there is to the listing does come up. I do know that when I bought my boat, they did remove the listing.

Found yourself a pretty rare boat! Congrats! I have seen a lot of 91-94 Prostars, but never have actually seen a BBC 454 91.

I'm still scheduled to pick it up on the 13th. Pending a blizzard or other issues, I will be towing it home in 10 days
