heater core replacement
I have searched and only find heatercraft heaters.
I finally got to the heater and the core is shot. fan works. ( looks like a single speed 4" bilge fan ) I know some have said they used ford ranger , and cougar heater cores. But So far I cant match this one. The core outer measurments are 7 1/4" X 6" X 2" the outlets are on the end. I have found plenty with the outlets on the side. can anyone tell me where I might find a new one. Or have any info on the Acuheat company. thanks Pics attached

Take it to a radiator shop.

Or autozone. They offer a lifetime warranty.

I'd buy a whole new heater unit from HeaterCraft - grey box, core and blower. They used to use that same crappy core in the picture above and HeaterCraft failures in that generation of heater are legendary. Their upgraded core is much, much better...such that I wouldn't even waste my time trying to get the old one repaired.
IMHO

I've got the exact same heater core that needs to be replaced in my Prostar 205.
I asked NAPA about NAPA part # 660-3540 and they say it doesn't exist. The core I have has burst the internal passages from water freezing in the off season and is not worth repairing. I've bypassed it using one of the hoses but would like to replace it while I still have all the pieces ![]() Anyone else been able to find a suitable fit replacement(with make,PN,price etc)? The core itself is measured as a 6" x 6" x 2" and the overall is 7.25" x 6" x 2" as per rem's pictures. Thanks, Pete |
