Zf hurth v drive fluid change...?

While changing the fluid via the filter vs through the dipstick, how many quarts does this transmission hold? I have put 3 quarts in and it's not even registered on the dipstick.
Is the reading on the dipstick read after being screwed down or just laying on top?

The reading is taken with the dipstick resting n the threads (laying n top)

If it is the ZF630A or 630V it holds 4.2quarts. Page 44 or section 6-12 of the attachment lists the fill values.
