wakeboard for 13 yr old son
I'd like to get my 13 yr old son a new wakeboard for xmas. he's 5'4" 110 lbs. His ability level is currently less than intermediate better than beginner but he's using my hyperlite state 145 with large bindings. I'm sure that large board and boots that are too big aren't helping him.
Suggestions. |

I'm 5'3 135 lbs and ride a 135 but have really been liking my brothers 131 lately so I'd say a size somewhere around there

I have a Hyperlite State 135 and last year one of my 12 year old twin boys decided on a lark that he would try it. He got up first try and has being using it ever since. He was under 100 lbs then. My other son tried it and liked it too. They use it more than I do now.

thanks for the advise, i think I'll probably stay with a state (135) and just get him smaller adjustable bindings.
thanks again |

IMHO a 135 is as big as I would go for a 13 year old. My oldest son started at 10 on a Liquid Force Nemesis 124 and this summer upgraded to a Liquid Force Harley 131 at 13. The Harley 131 is perfect for him and will provide lots of growing room. He is now 13 and 120 lbs. I think the weight of anything bigger than a 135 will be tough until he has the strength to handle it. My 11 Year old has taken over the Nemesis 124 and it fits him well. My experience with them is the smaller (lighter) the board, the easier it is for them to learn to handle and is much more fun. We have loved the Liquid Force boards.
On the 131 just after upgrading: ![]() On the 124 just before upgrading: ![]() Good luck and hope you all have as much fun with your kids and their wakeboarding as we do.
