Anyone know where to get the steering cable bracket that mounts near the rudder? My bracket is bent beyond repair. I checked out DIM, but maybe wasn't looking in the right place. A more "heavy duty" bracket would be great.

This is what I ordered as a direct replacement for my 1979. Hope it's the same for yours.

Here are some pics of the grinding thus far as I know you guys like pictures. Still a ways to go. Hope to get the majority of the grinding finished up this weekend. Sorry for the smaller pics. Taken off my FB page. I'll post some better images on here and the MC Project page this weekend.

Pulled a four hour grinding session this afternoon. Have I mentioned how I hate grinding? Have the transom ground smooth except in the lower corners where it is reallly tight. I plan on using a little barrel disc tomorrow afternoon to finish the transom up. Grinding is slow on the driver's side. I found several places with some rotten glass and blisters. These areas look to be over the bunk. I checked the bottom of the hull and cannot find any blisters. Not sure under the bunks. I hope the rotten glass and blisters are related to the previous floor replacement. Had to grind down to the gel in several small places. Will have to patch these prior to the stringers going in. I'll post some pictures when i get the boat vacuumed and washed out. US Composites order came in on Thursday, so i have to get myself in gear and get back on the boat.
I think I am going to try and replace the transom in one piece. I bought a ski eye that I plan to add to the transom. I am hoping to cut the transom to size, and then put some weight on it to start the bend. I then will use the ski eye holes and swim deck holes to pull the transom tight. That is the plan unless somebody else chimes in with suggestions. Can't decide on glueing the transom in with PL glue or us thickened resin. Any thoughts? |
