Skid wheel type for trailer?
OK, so I have the new trailer but no skid wheels yet. I did keep my "plastic" wheels and took them down to the trailer shop to get a price quote for install. Price was about $250 to mount them.
My biggest concern, really, is that I don't want to mark up my driveway (2 years old) and when I pull out of each time, the entire weight of the boat rides on the back skid wheels. The shop suggested the much smaller, steel wheels as a common alternative but I'm concerned it will mark up my driveway. Does anyone have some first hand experience with these type of steel wheels? The install would definitely be cheaper and I also think, aesthetically it would look better too.

Jeff I have two small steel rollers on the bottom of my trailer. I have a steep driveway and they dug into the concrete. Fortunately I only had to put it in my garage once. I saw your setup with the plastic/rubber wheels and thought it was a much better setup than the steel rollers that I have on mine. Too bad you are so far away. We could take it out to my shop at work and weld them on in a couple of hours.

I would get some high quality casters with grey hard rubber wheels, not black plastic. I don't think they will mark like the plastic.

![]() Glad you can confirm on the steel wheels. I guess I was trying to be hopeful just because they are smaller and look a little more clean, but I do need to take care of my driveway. I go in and out of our garage a lot, so it does need to be a permanent solution. I'll look into the caster type but I guess I may just stick with the original plan...... Ummm....how 'bout them Cougs? ![]()

The steel wheels will score up the driveway like crazy. I would only use those if my need for drag wheels were dips in the road. I went with larger, not as pretty, poly wheels on my current rig and they have held up well for 5 years and counting.

I don't think I have ever seen any. Trailers come in so many configurations, I would imagine it would be difficult to make on that would fit most.

I found the following when I was looking briefly. http://www.rvpartscenter.com/Product...ID=109&CID=257 http://www.etrailer.com/Motorhome-Ac...48-979014.html I have the built in rollers but they put marks in my driveway that I'm not too happy about. The driveway needs fixed anyways but at some point I will have to do something about the trailer and the driveway... |

I think this is as close as I can find for you.
They have a skid wheel "very similar" to the one I purchased but it looks slightly different. https://caltrailerworks.com/online/home.php?cat=161 I don't know if these would fit MC trailers or just DHM trailers.....

Bump, Anyone have any luck replacing the standard MC trailer prop cage rollers (2007 X 2 Tandem) to something other than steel? New house will FINALLY be done early next month and I have a fairly steep grade.
