Double Din to Single Din Trim
Hello,
I am not an subject expert so bear with me. I am changing the head unit on my 06-X1 which is Double Din Clarion. I want to change it to either a Clarion M502 or a Kenwood KMR 550U. First off does anyone own these and are they happy. Second does anyone know where I can get the appropriate trim to make this conversion. |

I went from a double din to single in my truck and got the adapter/trim from Crutchfield.

Rooster,
although the Clarion has a large face, it should be a standard 2x7 opening. So unless the factory got super sloppy cutting the hole, a single DIN head-unit should physically fit. This would probably just leave some screw holes to cover. You can fill them with some deck colored gel-coat repair putty, or fabricate a cosmetic bezel out of some 1/16" thick ABS that's commonly stocked and used by most mobile audio sales/installs outlet. Easy to cut and shape and it can easily be sandwiched between the boat and head-unit. Hers one we did in a center console. We replaced the Clarion CMD4. The cut-out was too large, so the new mounting cage didn't reach the existing opening, so we actually needed to secure the fabricated bezel to the wall. ![]() |

Thanks,
Anyone have reccomendations on a head unit with Blue Tooth already integrated in the head unit? |

No, but the Alpine KCE-400BT add-on unit works well with their marine head-units.
