1991 Maristar 240 Restoration
Thought I would show a few pics of before and after. Next post will have after pics( could only do 5 at a time). Restoration included: wet sand to waxing, new rub rail insert, teak deck refinish, new stereo, new hoses etc.. on engine, new seals under windshields, cleaned and restapled upholstery, new horn, repaired fiberglass on keel, and new fuel vent. Probably forgot a lot of misc. small things. Got some great info on TT concerning gelcoat restoration.

Good job bro. In reality these boats will live forever with a little cash and lots of TLC.

She's look'n nice man!!! I like the new stickers on the side for sure! What method did you use on the gel coat? I used Brian's recommendations with the 3M heavy compound, the medium, and then I used the 3M finishing wax. I still need to do another coat of just wax but she came out great too.
Did you install a new rub rail? It looks like you did. Mine will get replaced next year as it's hammered. I would like to see some more close ups of your motor if you don't mind. I'm dressing my motor up right now and hope to get her looking even better than it already looks when I get home. One other thing, since we have almost the same boat, is that the original upholstery or did you have it re-done? Mine is on it's way out and I was wandering what it's gunna cost me... I can get another season or 2 out of it but it really needs to go. Oh, I have a '91 Maristar 240SC. |

Wet sanded 800 grit then 1000 grit. Then 3M heavy duty to 3M Finesse it 2. Then polymer wax. Put in new rub rail insert piece. Will send photos on engine. It is the original upholstery except the rear compartment top. I had to redo it a few years ago due to traffic and sun. I keep it clean and coated with 303 as often as it needs. I have had a few cushions restitched.

Great looking 240. It was a bitter sweet day when my 210 pulled out of my drive way behind the new owners truck.

I see you have replaced the hoses on the motor. Are they all 1 1/4" Or are the ones going to the exhaust 1" and the others 1 1/4"?

Motor is 454 HO. 1.25" on water and 1" on exhaust. Got hose from skidim. It had the original blue lettered Mastercraft hoses, but I could not find online.
