350 mcx thermostat
hi,can anyone tell me about the 350 mcx thermostats. when i replaced mine recently with a new 160 deg.. i noticed theres a fairly deep circular recess where the stat fits ? and i was wondering if the stat should have a sealing ring or something there ?? to stop water bypassing the stat?

There should be a black rubber ring around the largest diameter portion of the t-stat.
