Powdercoating and fasteners

For folks who have powdercoated parts/assemblies such as windshield frames, vent grilles, and swim platform brackets, how did you color match your fastener heads? Powdercoating? Paint? Something else?

I do my own powdercoating at home, so when I've done some boat projects I would lightly blast the screw head and then powdercoat it as well.

Your coater will be able to do this easily. He'll run the screw in some sort of scrap sheet metal and do it at the same time as your other parts. Just bring him everything, the added cost will be negligible.

Does installing the fastener mar the coating?

On my tower we just used a thin piece of cloth to protect the surface. Worked well the majority of the time.
