If you are looking for economy budget the ego is the best by far for your buck. If you need professional then the GoPro Hero 3 is the newest and best out there. I own them both and still use them both equally. So I'd say worth it if you're trying to save a few $$

Ok traxx, last question for now. I was just about ready to pull the trigger on a Hero3 white when i realized the white package is half the MP picture and less video capability than a silver and black. What Hero do you own and what would you recommend? It's a $100 difference.....

Go big or go home... But seriously, how good of quality do you want? If you want the latest and greatest, go with the black gopro3. Otherwise you might as well get the cheaper gopro hd 1 or 2 for $150. I have the first hd hero and it's still good quality.
