Going To Look At An '89 PS190 Junker

Just a thought - but if you have a budget of 7k or so...don't be in a rush, you might be able to even pick up a 1991 190 if someone is wanting to sell their boat, which is newer hull. I just sold a 1990 190 that was in nice shape, ran great, was buffed and waxed, ready to go, for 6k. I was motivated to sell, could've waited 3-4 months to get the price I wanted, but I wouldn't let the deal go sour for even $500. So don't feel afraid to look at a boat with an asking price of 8k and see what type of deal you might get.

As much as I want a boat, I have learned how to be patient with buying bikes. It sucks, but yes, I do eventually find the deals. However, there are a lot more bikes that I look for than mastercrafts for sale around here. Kinda' surprised since there's so many lakes here too.

Unless you are doing all the work yourself, the interior alone is going to cost around over
1K. The last cover I had made was another $500. With the amount of neglect that the boat has seen, you will be lucky if the electrical is in working order.

If you are looking for a project boat and you are not in a hurry to get on the water (and he gives you the boat) then go for it. I'm just saying that you can find boats that have been taken care of and are ski ready for under 7K. It just depends on what your goal is.

Yeah, we'd do everything ourselves. If we were to get it (probably won't anymore), we'd put new carpet in and redo the front seats and engine cover to start. You could be right about it being a junkpile, but it might still be worth 1000 bucks... We really wanted to look at that blue one in Milwaukee last weekend, but I still can't get a response out of the guy, and he just posted it again a couple days ago!

If you want the interior to look good on an older boat, you have to do it all at the same time. Doing just the front seats will result in mismatched interior that looks like a shoddy job (even if it was a great job). You have to keep things uniform in the old boats to have any chance at decent resale. Not that you want to flip the boat, but you have to keep resale value in mind when doing any sort of work on the old boats. At some point, you'll probably want to sell it.

I suppose he hat a hot customer and didn't want to tell you. If his guy backed out, he would have given you a story about being out of town and really wanted to sell it to you right away. Keep looking.....something will turn up. You have a lot of eyes on here looking.

Yep, I know we'll find one, especially since summer is soon going away. I just would've preferred to have one so we could take it out a couple times before it freezes over, lol. Yeah, thanks again guys.

I hear you. Plenty of time yet. People start thinking about selling instead of storing their boat pretty soon. Keep the faith.
