X55 engine selection

Hi,

I'm looking for some opinions here. I am considering trading my x80 for an x55 (new or slightly used). Looking for opinions on the 6.2 engine vs. 7.4. Any experiences? Is the 7.4 worth the extra $? Will the 6.2 seem underpowered and if so under what conditions?

Thanks for your thoughts or experiences.

I have a 55 with the 7.4. I would not go any smaller. Love the boat.

Different perspective - have an x55 with the 6.2. Never felt underpowered to me. Runs anywhere from 42-44 wide open on Lake Michigan. What i consider to be great fuel efficiency. Sounds great, particularly coming out of throttle.

It's done everything I've asked it to do and more. I'll be replacing my X55 in about 3 years, would probably go with another 6.2 if the engine choices were the same as today.

It's only money

We have a 2012 x-55 with the 6.2 love the motor love the power and more importantly the fuel burn is pretty low. Would the extra power be nice sure it would be. But I would not shy away from a x-55 with a 6.2.

This also all depends on how you plan to load the boat. Example we normally have 5-6 people on board and about 4600lbs of ballast..

4600lbs
That's some Ballast. 6.2 should be fine for common folk

Think before I post ..."Do I need to say this? Or should I just let someone else complain "
