2003 X-30 Speakers

Over the weekend I picked up my new (to me) X-30. After getting it home, I found all the Clarion equipment to be non functional, and dry rotted. Not that big of deal, but now it is time for all new equipment. The tower I purchased has 4 factory cans with Clarion speakers. I would like to keep those cans, since they have lights in them. I have been looking at the JL Audio M650-CCX as replacements to the stock speakers on the tower. Does anyone else have any better suggestions? It seems like a lot of guys go with the Wet Systems speakers, but they seem so expensive, and out of my price range. I've decided that I am just going to unhook all the tweeters, and leave them in place. I am also replacing all the speakers in the boat, but will probably go with a more conventional JL 6.5 due to cost. I was thinking putting 2 JL 10's in boxes, one under passenger seat and other in back.

The JL tower speakers seem expensive and my question is first off, will they fit, and second off is it worth the money? Any help would be appreciated. I'm not necessary looking for huge sound 70 feet behind the boat, but a do want a system that will impress.

Also, reading through these threads people keep referring to HLCD's? What does that mean?
