Ballast tank removal X10 - X30?

I believe I have a cracked ballast tank and I have been told that they will not come out of the lockers without taking the top half off.

Please tell me this isnt true!

Has anyone ever successfully plastic welded a cracked ballast tank?

^ Do you have the aerator pump system? (6 pumps) I'd like to do that as well but dont want to have to rebuild the entire system....

I've had mine out in the 04 X-10. Just disconnect hoses and unscrew brackets. It takes a little wiggling, and you have to hold your mouth just right, but it will come out. I wouldn't try to repair it. Just replace with soft bags.

Thanks guys. I'm starting to think our ex-MC dealer is completely full of sh!t.

I have an 01 with the aerator pumps. The drain pumps for the locker tanks are hard mounted to the back of the tanks. Will I need to upgrade to reversible pumps to convert over to sacs?

I have the same boat 2001 x-10 and the pumps on the tank can be disconnected and reused on the new sacs. No need to replace the pumps. You can also get a high volume cartridge replacement to upgrade the flow as well.

In the works for this year. One of my tanks leaks as well. I just haven't had the time and $$ to do the swap. I have taken the pumps out and switched the cartridges already though.
