Nate Smith is in Cincinnati for a clinic this week and 2 passes into the first set this morning, mine started overheating (5.7L Ilmor ~45hrs on boat). Nate commented that he has seen same thing happen to a handful of other promos at pro events and it seems to be H20 circulator issue. Called the guys at Cincy MC.......they are on it. More to come.

Luckily/unfortunately (however you want to see it) we had two other promo boats of "the other brands" ready to go......so the clinic resumed.

It is a warranty thing and the dealer replaced it.

Thank you guys for the help! Im glad im not the only one with this problem. Other than the overheating the 5.7 is an awesome engine!

Chalk another one up for a bad H20 circulator pump. New one is going in as we speak.

My 2012 X2 with 5.7 Ilmor is doing the same thing. It only happens at idle speed... usually when we are going from our dock through the no wake zone to the main lake... about 5 minutes. As soon as I give it some throttle the temperature quickly drops but the SERV REQ on GDIG and MIL light stay on and I can't use my GDIG display for anything else!!! Is this the circulation pump? Would that explain only happening at idle/no wake speed? Does anyone have any other information about this? Thanks for any input.

I have a 2011 X-15 with 35 hours on the Indmar engine. Mine overheated in the middle of Lake Chelan in Eastern Washington. Things got so hot that the paint started to bubble and smoke from the exhaust manafolds - luckily it seems that there was no damage to the block or the heads.
We were just told that it was the circulation pump. Mine looks just like cincyskier's picture - completely cracked in half.
Water testing tomorrow - hopefully it is fixed. Scary that things like this can happen on a brand new engine, but I am dying to get back out on the water!

How did you determine that there was no damage to the block or heads? What else could be damaged and how hot did it get?
