Tandem Trailer Wheel Size?
Sorry if this has been asked before. I didn't see it though.
What is the wheel size/bolt pattern on my '88 Mastercraft Trailer. I'm pretty sure the wheels are 14", but I'm not sure about the wheel width and the distance between bolt holes. Also, does anyone know of a good place to buy aftermarket trailer wheels? Thanks! |

The reason I posted this question is because I'd like to get some different wheels for my tandem axle trailer.
I've read several posts that say most Mastercraft tandem axle trailers have 14" wheels, but my trailer has tires on it that say XXX-R-13. So, I'm assuming it has 13 inch wheels. Can anyone verify this for me? It looks like its a 1988 Tristar tandem axle trailer with 13 inch wheels. |

Mastercraft tandem axle trailers have 14x6 wheels with 5x4.5 bolt pattern wheels with zero offset. ST205/75R14 and ST215/75R14 are common tandem axle trailer tire sizes.

They're 13 inch (not sure about the width) with 5x4.5 bolt pattern. The odd thing is that they fill up the fenders perfectly. I think 14" wheels would rub. Anyone else ever heard of a MC trailer with 13" wheels? |

My '89 TriStar has an OEM MC tandem trailer (made by Sweetwater). The capacity plate lists weight bearing capacity with 13" wheels. However, mine has 14 x 6" wheels, 4.5" bolt pattern.
It's not the wheels that fill the fenders, it's the tires. I run P205/70-14 tires, slighter shorter than a comparable ST tire which would be 205/75-14. I bought chrome steel wheels at a local discount tire outlet, they were $65 each, look great. I doubt that Tire Rack or any other internet store would be less expensive once you figure in shipping. I'd shop for 14" wheels if I were you. Last edited by Miss Rita; 06-16-2012 at 03:06 PM. |
