8.1L Engine Needed -- HELP

2008 8.1L froze up and cylinder 2 bad. Any suggestions? Was looking to replace with a reman? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Have no idea on potential cost??????

What caused the freeze up? over heat? oil pressure file? detonation? How many hours on engine...

Since the L18 8.1's aren't available anymore you are in lttle bit of a pickle. Your best bet is to try and source a reman engine and salvage what you can off your old engine depending on what is damaged. The even bigger issue is locating a 8.1 HO engine. Indmar and MC used the HO versions which supposedly have different heads and cam from GM. It is much easier to find standard reman'ed 8.1's but then you would be dropping HP.

I have heard of some 8.1 owners having to go a different route since they weren't able to source a new 8.1. For example dropping down to a LY6 which are still available from Indmar and bolt right in.
