tranny woes
99 prostar 205, looking at replacing tranny, Hurth HSW 450 D. Any tips out there? would it be easier to pull engine first and do replacement outside the boat? Also wondering about rebuild versus buy new.

If you mechanically inclined not that bad a job.. but there's resources in library for rebuild. Shop press and some other tools needed - but most people here get away with the press only. PM Kyle here for more info You're not too far from The Liquid Edge - pricey if they do most of the work - pull trans rebuild realign.. maybe cheaper if you pull trans - not too hard - change the damper plate while your at it. could be pump or clutch plates..

kind of figured damper plate may be warped and from some of the noises, suspect plates damaged. wasn't pretty sounding
