Supposedly the new fabric type vinyl does not conduct heat... Does feel more like a fabric and fabric car seats typically do not conduct heat in the same way as typical vinyl or leather seats do, but no personal experience with this fabric outside the boat shows.

i thought that seat was capable of facing forward or backward just like the rear bench.

Wow, the first picture with no wrap, you can really see all the different side profiles this boat has. The dark or wrapped boats hid this.

In the second picture, why would they have to have a big ballast tank sitting in the walkway??

That was the prototype boat. They were either running without any onboard ballast and needed to simulate with fat sacs or more likely they were just putting as much weight as they could in it to see how big it could get.
