1984 stars and strips

Today 09:24 PMTrublulew
Hello team talk, I knew when I was gifted a 1984 stars and strips that it must be special. After a good lookover she is rough. And the trailer is even worse. So what do you do? Go online and find a great site to help launch the restoration. I sat down on sunday and read every post, it was a better read than a best seller. And now my head is spinning. On where to start. If anyone could help with a place to find parts that would be great. Started a new trailer rebuild last week and will be trying to get pics up soon. Thanks to all you Mastercraft mad men, lew

Congrats on becoming the owner of a great project and welcome to Team Talk. I see you have already realized this is a great resource for all things Mastercraft. There will be plenty of people along to offer great advice on how to bring your boat back to it's glory. Please post some pictures so we can get an idea of what you have to work with. Then, start a list of all thing you plan to do. When I got my boat it was a mess. I decided to first take on the things needed to make it functional, then work on the things to make it pretty. Good luck.

Congrats on the boat and coming to the board! I have an '85. Engine parts are fairly easy to come by (see above post) some parts can even be had at the local Auto Zone, etc. (just be sure it's not a part that should be marinized). The difficult part will be the little things (vent covers, dash panel, etc.). My boat came from the Northeast too and I recently was going to refurb the trailer, but after getting the boat off the trailer and really looking at it, there is so much rust, that there are holes in some places (one being just before the bolt that holds the bunk to the trailer). Any questions you have, just ask. The guys here are awesome, very knowledgable, and always willing to help out (especially with restoring the older ones).

Welcome.

Don't forget to buy a vowel for that Stars and Strips.

And let's see some pictures of the boat!

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.

If it's what I'm thinking, that missing vowel might not be so bad after all.

I'm very much ok with the missing vowel as well (in a feminine context anyway). Don't get the wrong idea...

Welcome to TT - this place is great.

Sounds like bumping your head in a super nightclub.
