SKIDIM LT1 T-stat Holes Different?

I bought a bunch of maintenance parts from SKIDIM and noticed a slight difference in the 160 degree drilled thermostat for my LT1. I've heard that the holes must be the same size and all this stuff about overheating. Has anyone successfully used a drilled LT1 t-stat from SKIDIM?

TStat: http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=98-6034
Gasket: http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=RM0121

Here are some pics of the difference (order: new, old, gasket). The last picture is the gasket I bought, It's obviously not the correct one so I might just re-use my old one... Thanks!

Did you call them at SKIDIM and talk to them about it? They are a great group of people there and was very helpful to me.

I just got the package tonight after work. I'll call them tomorrow. They are great people so far. I placed my order and literally 2 days later they sent out a spring savings 10%-off email. Regardless, they applied the savings to my order. Big thumbs up to SKIDIM

Back when i had the LT-1 i would by a marine t-stat without the holes and drill the new ones myself. Never had a problem doing it that way. I think what stemmed it originally was SKIDIM was out of the pre-drilled t-stats.

Edit, after a closer look the size of the holes in mine looked similar to the first pic (new) not the second one (old).

I would think the holes just let water flow thru the engine while the stat is closed and keeps the pump from dead heading.

Yeah i contacted SKIDIM today and they said there just has to be holes so water can pass through. They said if I wanted, I could open them up a little larger. Eitherway, I think the main goal is just so water passes through.

I read some older threads that scared me a bit in regards to them being EXACTLY the same size. I should be good to go and again a huge +1 to SKIDIM for being awesome.
