Engine Cover Latch
Hi, I have been reading this post for some time now, really appreciate all of the advice, guess it's time to introduce myself. I bought an 04 PS 209 this spring, have had several issues with it. First one was the latch to the engine cover box, first dealer I looked at opened the box and the latch broke. The dealer I bought the boat from broke my first latch while showing me the boat after it came in, replaced it with another latch from a boat on the showroom, and it was broken by the time I got it home. Am now waiting for a new latch from the dealer that is going to address all of the other warranty issues (including several gelcoat cracks). Anybody else have this problem? JimT

Jim,
Welcome to the board!! I haven't heard any problems on the engine cover latches, but the Gelcoat seems to be an issue this year. As I'm sure you've seen in other threads. Good luck with the issues, and again Welcome!!

Thanks for the welcomes. I'm not sure if the boats in question have a common link, or if it's just an allaround bad mixture. The first cracks were at the two forward cleats and at the hook that connects to the winch. A new one is under the swim platform at the rear tie down. I have to agree with bonedoc, it's sure frustrating on a brand new boat!

Hey guys, I bought a 04 ps197, And I also have gelcoat cracks. the driver seat bolts that hold the seat down came out , Had a small tranny leak. The seat that opens to the open bow is coming off. the stickers are falling off and the carpet on the trailer bunks is wore to the wood, And water got in the oil bath bearings on the wheels. Plus there is a huge crack in the fiberglass under the passenger seat in front of the battery. I just hit 40hrs on my boat.

Latch problem might be related to short engine board
I too have had the same problem. Seems that the engine cover mounting board at the back of the engine is too short. The dealer I bought the 04 209 is going to have it replaced. Until that time, I need to be very careful opening or closing the cover. Need to pull it forward with my fingers under the engine cover while openning the latch.
Check with the service guys to see if it is too short as well. Good luck. Rod
