Trailer conversion
Our single axle trailer for a 1994 Prostar 205 is in need of refurb. and will come out the other end as a tandem. If anyone out there has the axle placement for a tandem of this model, please let me know. Distance from the aft end of the trailer to the center of both axles please. Cheers.

Interesting project. I would think the centerline of the original axle would be where you are locating both axles fore and aft of. Make sure you take plenty of pictures.

Will try to keep up with the photos, and yes it would seem that the center of the two axles would be the placement of the original single. Still it would be nice to know for sure. Next decision is whether to buy aftermarket fenders and fabricate the steps and supports or find M/C tandem fenders $$$.

Not sure if this helps but on my tandem trailer under my '93 190 prostar
Back of frame to center of axles is 76" Back of frame to rear axle is 60" Axles are 32" apart. I assume a trailer for a 205 is approx 18" longer overall. Not sure how that would translate with the above dimensions. (I guess you really need a 205 owner to do some measuring for you)

Measured on a 2000 205 tandem trailer (used for a 97 205):
Back of trailer frame( side where lights are located) to back of axle: 52" Space between axles: 30" ***This will get you close but the actual measurements would be determined by axle bracket/spring width you purchase....and to some extent the fender you choose*** Boatmate sells fenders, your choice steel to stainless: http://www.boatmateparts.com/product...l_products.htm Last edited by Stritt; 02-08-2012 at 06:15 PM. |

Thanks for the measurements. For a 205 then, the center between axles would be 67" from the back of the frame.
Cheers. |

Getting close to refinnishing this project. Does anyone know if that is paint or powdercoat on the original 1998 trailer?
