Pylon Diameter for 2005 PS 197 ????

Hi there,

I should know this but I don't. What is the pylon diameter for a 2005 Prostar 197? Is it 3" or 2 3/8". I am pretty sure it is the 3" but I need to be sure.

I am betting one of my fellow TT Members knows this one.

Thanks!

Are you referring to the upper or lower measurement as it is a tapered pylon? I measured mine a year or two back, but don't recall the exact number right now. And, I don't have the boat nearby or I would go measure for you. If you are thinking about the top, 2 3/8" sounds closer to right than 3" does, for what it is worth.

Below the narrowing point on the pylon.

I am talking about the diamater below the point it begins to narrow. I am looking at a new boom clamp and I would be attaching it below the "narrow" part.

I too do not have easy access to the my boat too.

My camera mount is attached, but it looks like the top 9.5" or so of the pylon is tapered. The circumference goes from ~6.5" to ~7 7/8" which is about 2.5" diameter at the biggest point (if my math is correct...d=c/Pi). If you need additional info, my 2005 TT is about 20' from me mac

Thanks macattack! That would make sense then that choices I have for the mounting bracket are 3" or 2 3/8". It is very likely the latter of these two.

I was searching the web and saw a reference to the 3" diameter pylon being used in older boats.
