I cant answer your question but would like to add one......

I also have a X10 and went with a 1.5 din Alpine HU. Someone said there's a backing plate (maybe from Clarion) that covers the area that wasnt exposed with the OEM Clarion HU?

Sorry for the thread jack!

hey brian.
well i finally got up there. and the new cm-7 is different enough i will have to make a new bracket out of wood. i don't know if that helps at all.

When I put my new CMD-6 in the existing connector was the same from the old clarion deck (don't know the model, but an old one) but the inline fuses were different. I used the old plug to test it, but used the new one when I did the install.

On the other question about a trim plate to fix the hole: My new deck need a plate like you describe. I made one out of stainless to cover it up. Seemed a crime to put wood into a wood-free boat. I can try and get pics this week if you'd like. Hope this helps.

When changing from a Clarion XMD to a CMD , even though they are both 1.8 din units, you will have a newer unit that will not entirely cover up the previous hole pattern on each side. Its more cosmetic than structural. So we fab ABS trim plates for this adaption. Mildly textured. Slightly radiused on all face edges. Dyed black over black ABS. Looks more like a matte vinyl when its done versus glossy plastic. Same process but different part for adapting to the Alpine.
