Need Help Purchasing 2001-2003 209/197

I'm in Texas and am looking to buy 209/197. Looking for a gently used, well maintained boat. Trying to stay within the state. Looking for off-season pricing and would be a cash buy. Would like to purchase soon. I know that a member was selling a yellow 209 around $18,900 - this is where I'd like to be. Conservative colors (black preferable). If you know of one, please post here or email: jfgorner@hotmail.com

The guy with that 209 decided not to sell I believe. How serious of a skier are you? The 209 was not one of MC's better slalom boats. You're going to be hard pressed to find a 197 in decent shape without high hours for $19,000

Yea that guy is a tool and decided to keep it. You are gonna have a tough time finding a 209 in that price range. Think the cheapest I've really seen is around 22k. THere will be some smoking deals out there close to xmas though

There was a 209 in Dallas with 306 hours for $18500. Of course, it's sold.

Point being, those deals are out there. And if someone wants $$$ and wants to deal, I'm a willing a ready to perform buyer.

Hopefully this thread will prompt someone to post a deal they know of here in Texas.

well the good news is the buyers are dead so if someone is trying to sell a boat its a tough time. I had mine up for like 3 weeks and had 3 buyers who couldn't get financed. If you have your money lined up it makes those deals alil more obtainable

Good to hear. No financing needed; straight-up deal - $$$ for clear title and boat.

Thanks for the info. It'll be my first Mastercraft, so I'm excited.

Holden...hold off and be ready....the right boat will come along....waited almost a year...my breakpoint was $10K and it just had to be right... have had the picture boat for 13 months now..bought with 526 hours...the biggest issue was trailer need a break refit, new backing plates, new break line, master cylinder and tires. Didn't have to do the brakes...but I hauled to Northwest Ontario from Chicago and wanted zero problems...

new expenditures

new hoses...
new thermostat
impeller puller (why not have the right tool for the job)
fluids...

don't force the purchase...you'll know when its right. Who knows you might find a 1998 with less hours in pristine condition. My 1995 is in better shape then many 2004's I have seen.

Good Luck
