Betty Mae, was the original owner wifes name. The new owner retained the name in honor of them (both passed).

Moving a house.. Across a lake

The quick and dirty.. Rich guy buys a lakefront property and wants to tear down the existing house to build a new one. The problem was that the house he bought was one of the oldest and most historic in town (from 1885 which is old for around here) and when news leaked that he planned to demo it, people freaked out. So a bunch of folks raised money to pay for the home to be moved but it was way too big to transfer on land... So they put it on a barge and moved it across the lake and voila! The house was split in two for the barge trip.

Slideshow of the process can be found here:

IL river ice

I think winter has come to the IL. This is looking north at lower Henry Island.

Brrrr!

Great shot. Must be a cool job, working on the river all day. No matter what the season.

It's interesting, I enjoy winter more! In the Summer I have to watch everyone in their boats having fun and I'm stuck at work!

Right. And I bet there are more idiots that you have to look out for on the river in the summer.
