Paper clip method for code reading

Hi Guys,

I've searched but for some reason I can't find out which terminals to put the paper clip into to read the engine error codes.

Anyone know the answer?

The boat is a 2002 X-Star (205V) with the TBI motor.

Check with Indmar on this- EngineNut posted that at some point, this shouldn't be done because the pin assignments were changed but I don't remember the year.

From the link above it looks like terminals A and B. If so, these are the same terminals I short to put the engine into "service mode" in order to set the base timing.

Does this make sense? Or it is it terminal A and B on a different connector?

I am not a big fan of the "paper clip method" when it comes to messing with the ECM. It leaves too much room for error and you could end up shorting out the wrong pins. I ordered one of the simple code readers and modified it to leave it connected at all times. I ordered it from the same company below but it was cheaper off of their ebay site.

Managed to get the codes no problem. Thanks.

Anyone know how to clear them?

to clear the codes

With the paper clip in, move the throttle to the 100% forward position then move it back to neutral and the code should clear.
