Damaged prop. Anything else to be worried about?
I managed to embarrassingly do some damage to my prop when loading at night. By the looks of these pictures could the damage be more severe than the prop? The shaft looks straight and I don't see any cracks in the fiberglass. It also seemed to run fine for the brief period I ran the boat after the damage happened.
Also can these props be resurfaced or do I have to buy new? Thanks guys |

Get with Eric at OJ props regarding repair. Did you get way off to the side and bump the trailer with the prop?

That doesnt look too bad, to be honest. Sand/ Gravel/ Small rocks ? You could start it up on the trailer for a minute or two put it in gear and watch the rotation of the shaft. Make sure from all angles, it is rotating true round.
Call OJ Props and ask for Eric, http://www.ojprops.com/ Let him know you found him from the forums. When I wrecked mine before labor day, he had me a new one sent in 3 days, got a prop puller from him as well and sent him my old one which they repaired, back to pristine condition. Now I have an spare. If you are at the end of your season, you could send yours in to be repaired, but usually they have a pretty good package deal for repair with the purchase of a new one. Good luck! |

I wouldn't expect any other damage. Get the prop fixed and take it out for a ride and see if there is any vibration.

Just make a mental note to take the first run cautiously. Seems that is always the case for me, what with a winter project or two always happening. Good luck.
