Mastercraft extended warranty 3 Plus 3

Well my X-25 is about to get loaded on the truck and finally get to me. I was down at the dealer finalizing paperwork and the money. They asked me if I wanted to purchase the Mastercraft extended warranty 3 plus 3.

I am asking fellow team members their experience with this warranty and how much this coverage costs approximately. I put about 150 to 200 hrs a year on my boat as a rule of thumb. What is the standard coverage ?

I wish I knew. I've always thought extended warranties were like rolling the dice in Vegas. This is what the company that sells them banks on. If only one in 10 boats has an issue they make cash. If you are the 10th boat you get what you pay for. If you are 1 through 9 it seems like wasted cash.

i have one. i added the ski-pack to it to cover the tower, instrumentation, gear, etc. many things on a MC are covered for only one year. this takes ALL covered items out to six full years. there are some cathces though. nothing is covered that is damaged by heat unless the heat was caused by failure of a covered part. impellers are not covered. nothing in the engine/drive train is covered if water entered it. i still bought it though.

Hours don't matter. I had one on my last boat. I used it once(fuel pump). everything else happened and was covered by initial warranty. Its just piece of mind..

I got one as well. Figured that in the six years I would recoup the investment. I've had on on my Ford Expedition and more than recouped the cost over the 6 years. Time will tell. You should read the information on what it covers to make up your mind. I decided that since it covered much of the electronics that it would be worth it.

Thanks for the update .. I have had a few extended warranty's that were helpful and some that did nothing for me. I plan to use the boat a lot as I have a house right on the river. I use the boat about 150-200 hrs a year. I am unsure of the cost but was thinking after 6 years would probably come close to even

I plan on getting the extended warranty for sure. With all the computer moduals, power tower, actuators ect.. I couldnt imagine the cost to replace anything that does fail. I see the warranty as peace of mind, not sure what the terms are on your plan, but here if the warranty isnt used, then I would get most of the preminum refunded to me minus an admin fee of course.

When are you expecting delivery of your X25. I seem to recal you ordered it at the beginning of Aug?

If it covers anything electrical that is a big benefit in my mind. We only had the std 3 year and had a few issues well before 50hours. to the point that the dealer (via MC) replaced the entire wire harness assembly for the boat!! That was after about 3 days of troubleshooting at standard shop rate.

I've also had the stereo replaced Twice...under warranty.

Now I'm certainly getting nervous as my std warranty is about to expire. Kind of makes me wonder if the extended warranty would be helpful for the piece of mind alone given the issues we've had thus far.

Did I mention we don't even have the first 100hours completed on a 2007 boat?? In my mind, these kinds of issues should NOT be happening on a "young" boat.

My 2 cents....

The insurance we have on our boat (through Cornerstone) is fully reimbursed if we don't use it. Can't go wrong with a deal like that.
